David Moses Presler serves in the capacity of Cantor, Performer Composer and Music Educator. His original style, energy and enthusiam inspire his performances and recordings.
As Cantor, David has served congregations in the Northeast for over 25 years, organizing successful Concert Series featuring talents including singers from the Metropolitan Opera. His Family Service and Siddur, fully transliterated have inspired congregants to learn and lead Shabbat services.
As an Educator, he has taught music in Hebrew Schools, choir and general music in New York State public school system, and has a voice studio for aspiring Cantors and pop singers. His doctoral dissertation addresses the need for a comprehensive music education in the Jewish Education sector.
As a performer, David has sung operatic roles including Mozart's Figaro, Leporello in Don Giovanni and Shaunard in La Boheme. As a recitalist, David has also performed Schubert's Winterreise, a song cycle of 24 songs by Wilhelm Müller as well as Schumann's Dichterliebe, a 16 song cycle on poems by Heinrich Heine.
As a recording artist, David recorded a unique Jewish Jazz album (Time for Moshiach) based on Chassidic motifs in a constellation of fascinating essays on the possibilities of a new music in the Jewish market. This album can be purchased by download in the store on this site.
As a composer, David has set many parts of the Shabbat Liturgy to music, and his Sim Shalom was recently published by Transcontinental Music Publications. David earned his B.A. and M.S. in Music Education at The Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College and is a Doctoral Candidate at Yeshiva University, Jewish Education and Administration. He is married to Shira Flam, Soprano.
